A cinema, reached through an enchanted labyrinth

When I launched my Christmas bucket list very recently, I had 4 spaces left on it, knowing that I was bound to come across some ‘must-do’ experiences online that I would just have to add. And today, I’ve discovered what can only be described as THE most beautiful, most stunning, most exciting Christmas-related activity……watching the movie Elf at the Backyard Cinema at Winterville, London.

So, what is the Backyard Cinema? Well, it started out in a guy’s actual backyard where he wanted to create the most immersive experience for the visitors. As well as watching a wide variety of films, visitors would experience live music, lounge on giant beanbags and marvel at the creative build. The Backyard Cinema has grown and now offers films in a diverse range of venues and, this Christmas, it’s at Winterville – a stunning pop-up Christmas-themed park on Clapham Common. It’s showing so many films, like Elf, Muppets Christmas Carol, The Holiday, Love Actually, Die Hard (yes, that IS a Christmas film!!!), Miracle on 34th street, Home Alone, etc. But the experience involves walking through a beautiful labyrinth before you reach the actual cinema where you can then devour mince pies and mulled wine. The video on the official Backyard Cinema website is making me so excited and I couldn’t resist buying a ticket for next Monday afternoon. Winterville itself should be amazing too with an ice-rink, roller disco, street feast, plonk golf amongst lots of other attractions.

Gosh, it’s less than a month to go now and there’s so much more to fit in like Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park and Winchester Christmas market. I don’t think I’ve ever had so much fun!

Hope you’re all having a good week xx
