A month ago when writing about May, I also said:
“However, it’s important to make sure that April gets recognised too so I’m going to set myself a couple of things to do.“
How wrong was I?! I did more than a couple of things and managed to tick off some items from my bucket list. Some of the list can be clicked on if you’d like to read more but, in April, I:
- visited more filming locations (e.g. Bridget Jones, Sliding Doors, Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill)
- went to the aromatic Borough Market which I can’t wait to go back to
- went on the Emirates cable car over the O2
- took in the stunning views of London from the Sky Garden
- photographed the Harry Potter 9 3/4 sign at Kings Cross
- visited Little Venice, London
- ate breakfast at the Fat Boys American Diner
- found the ‘real’ entrance to the Leaky Cauldron from Harry Potter
- visited the British Library
- photographed the British Museum
- walked through Leadenhall Market
- had a drink in colourful Neal’s Yard, Covent Garden
- photographed London at night (on a separate trip to ondon)
- visited the beautiful Surrey village of Shere
- had my first knitting lesson with my extraordinarily patient mum-in-law
- saw a lamb being born and held a fluffy chick
- played ‘pooh sticks’ at PoohSticks Bridge
- visited other places such as Brighton and National Trust gardens
- continued towards the goal of 50 hours’ voluntary work (about half way!)
- watched the Azerbaijan Grand Prix with about 100 other people
- started my photography bucket list (here are some of my photos:)
And my action packed day in London that included many of the above can be read: here
So, not a quiet month as it turns out! There’ve been times when I might have just stayed in but it’s good to get out, especially on the blue sky days, take a break from work and explore this beautiful country. Now, it’s May and I will be:
- going on a road trip
- photographing the Angel of the North sculpture
- walking through Alnwick Poison Gardens and castle
- photographing Newcastle at night
- drinking whiskey in Scotland
- visiting the famous Gretna Green blacksmith’s wedding venue
- driving down Hardknott Pass (listed on http://www.dangerousroads.org)
- going to the Keswick Jazz and Blues Festival
- visiting Saltaire UNESCO site
- visiting Hadrian’s Wall
- visiting Coventry Cathedral
- photographing around the Lake District and getting the iconic shot of a jetty
- going in a hot tub at an amazing luxury hotel
- feeding monkeys their breakfast at Trentham Monkey Forest
- exploring Stratford upon Avon
- finishing off my challenge to visit 10 filming locations
- with one of my children, doing a half day experience with owls swooping down onto my arm
- going on a P&O cruise where my friend and I are going to stay in a suite
- continuing with the voluntary work
- continuing to work on my photography bucket list
- discovering where I’ll be going on holiday in 2019 as I plan to go to Eurovision (i.e. whichever country wins this year!)
So, this is what I’ve got planned but, as April has shown, I’m bound to do some extras! For those of you who don’t personally know me, I also run a consultancy firm and am a busy mum and wife so I have to fit everything into gaps here and there with support from the most amazing hubby! As I mentioned in a recent post (here), doing all of these things keeps me positive and more ready to face the challenges that we can face in life. And whilst bucket listing might not be for everyone, it certainly helps me!
Hope May is a good month for all of you too 🙂 ♥
visited more filming locations (e.g. Bridget Jones, Sliding Doors, Love Actually, Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill)…. That alone sold me! I’d love to make sure I visited those locations.

:). Hey Kim! In a week’s time, I’ll be visiting the filming spot at Alnwick Castle where Harry Potter learnt to fly on his broomstick! Have a great day 🙂
